Am I allowed to change the bill of lading number on a switch bill of lading..??

We can not change the Bill of Lading Number when we do the switch BL issues. We should use the same Bill of Lading number while switching the BL.

Can a shipper put a hold on a container under CIF terms..??

Holding a container will be stopping the shipping process thus breaking the contract.

How long must I store original bills of lading after shipment is complete..??

2 years , to keep original b/l , after this period there is no right for consignee to clear that cargo

How do I verify if my goods were actually shipped..??

If you are unsure of the shipper and the cargo being shipped you can employ an independent surveyor who can be present while the cargo is being packed in the container, verify the quantity and specification of the goods and present that survey report to you along with pictures..

Can anyone issue a House Bill of Lading..??

A bill of lading is issued by a carrier (in the case of seafreight – referred to as Ocean Carrier).

Can the shipping line be held liable..??

Generally Shipping line only liable to pay if the cargo has damaged during transition. You must read the terms and conditions mentioned in transportation contract. in this agreement all the points is described regarding liability.
